I’ve always had a bucket list (a bucket list is a list of things you simply must do before you die) but I’ve never actually put it down in one place. So I figured, WordPress was a good place to start and keep track of it. I decided I’d go on step further and share it with my friends, just in case any of you have similar aspirations.
Some of them may not be all too realistic, but I don’t really care. It doesn’t make me want it less. Also, I think for a bucket list to be inspiring, the percentage of completion should never go over 65%, because there’s so much to do, see, experience and having it all too fast takes the fun out of life.
* denotes things I have already achieved.
So here goes:
My Bucket List
1. Become a doctor
2. Send my parents on a cruise
*3. Visit Platform 9 and 3/4 at King Cross Station, London – March 2011
*4. Audition for a talent show - Malaysian Idol, 2006 (went with Mei Anne and Alison. Didn’t really take it seriously at all, I picked a song 3 minutes before going in, sang it awfully because I didn’t even warm up, and just had fun with the experience of it all. Good times.)
5. Go skydiving
6. Fly on a fighter jet/or steer a plane.
7. Visit all 7 continents. Yes, even Antarctica.
*8. Visit the Taj Mahal. - May 2009 (went with my Dad. We took a father-daughter trip all from North to South India, visited a whole bunch of places and had fun. Dad, if you read this, it was great spending time with you.)
*9. Trace my genealogy, or visit the village my ancestors came from - December 2010 (My dad traced back his roots to a village in India, and now we have a whole bunch of living relatives there. Awesome. Not so much luck from mum’s side, though.)
10. Visit the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City
11. Kiss in the rain
12. Christmas with snow and mountains and hot chocolate and skiiing and a hearty fire
13. Travel from England to France or vice versa, on the Eurostar
*14. Make a difference in someone’s life. - 2009 to 2012, My journey in AIESEC has really allowed me to not only do this but also receive the feedback that I made a difference in someone’s life. It’s been a really amazing, humbling and incredible journey. A few sentences could not possible justify it.
15. Visit Disneyland.
16. Visit the great pyramid in Egypt.
17. Ride on a hot air balloon
*18. Get drunk - January 2010 (my friends threw me a surprise birthday party. It was awesome, and we had fun. And then I drank until I was completely sloshed. Poor Mei Anne cannot unsee what has already been seen.)
19. Visit the Great Barrier Reef
*20. Ride an elephant - December 2007 (First time I went to Thailand, so had to do the obligatory elephant ride. And saw the elephant show. Which fills me up with UGH because animals do not perform in real life okay, they are trained that way, cruelly.)
21. Take a train in India
*22. Create something new – June 2010 (I’m trying to see if I can get it patented, so until then, no comment yet.)
23. Visit Santorini, Greece
24. See the Aurora Borealis up close.
25. Stargaze/ Visit the Keck Observatory in Hawaii
26. Visit Japan
27. Go to the Burning Man Festival, Nevada
28. Speak fluent Mandarin
29. Go to a party. In Brazil.
30. Celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day. In Ireland.
*31. Go to another country and volunteer in a project for at least 1 month / Join Medicins Sans Frontiers – January 17th 2011 to 28th February 2011 (Cultural exchange program Across The Skyline, with AIESEC Lublin, Poland. I taught kids from age 4 – 20 about Malaysia and the English language. It was awesome.)
*32. Kiss a stranger. - August 2009 (No comment. Haha. He was cute, though.)
33. Perform a complete act of kindness to a stranger.
34. Maintain a weight of 150 pounds (i.e be healthy)
35. Create a work of art
36. Visit Paris and see the Louvre
37. Get a tattoo
*38. Go rock climbing - April 2011 (I went for rock climbing on cliff side that was by the South China Sea’s rocky waves in Club Med Cherating. Got pretty scratched up, but it was totally worth it. I did two routes, I couldn’t complete the first one and had to give up about 90% to the top. Unsatisfied, I did a second, slightly harder route and finished it. Perseverance, baby!)
39. Start my own business
40. Donate blood
*41. Write for a newspaper - 2007 (Since joining the BRATS program, I’ve written for the newspaper a few times.)
*42. Meet a musician who inspired me - April 2009 (Met David Archuleta when he came down to Kuala Lumpur. He’s amazing. And a few weeks later, talked to David Cook via webchat for a while.)
43. Be in four places at once (i.e The Four Corners, USA)
44. Go skinny dipping
45. Be a bridesmaid/maid of honor at my best friends wedding

*52. Kiss a girl. 2002 (My friend, Nisha was the first during a game of Truth or Dare. Countless others in subsequent T&D games.)
*52.i French-kiss a girl – December 2011, China. One of the dares during our room party, which was harder than I had anticipated… you’d think it is just a kiss, but kissing someone of your own sex when you’re not at all inclined is really difficult and disconcerting.
53. Explore a cave.
*54. Go overseas and cook Malaysian food for someone. – February 2011 (I cooked some food as seen in this post when I was in Poland.)
55. See fireflies in their natural habitat.
*56. Not allow other people’s comments or perceptions cloud my own self-esteem/worth. – 2011. I didn’t realize I accomplished this until I actually reflected on it. I truly could not give a rat’s arse on what people think now days. Especially after the siege of comments on the Youtube video for the ItGetsBetter project (‘No wonder she’s lesbian, she’s ugly!’ –> I am neither a lesbian nor ugly. Thank you very much.) and other statements made by even friends who do not understand that they are being both rude and ignorant. The thing, I really don’t care anymore and what’s more, where I would have once swallowed such comments with a burn in my throat and a smile on my face, I am no longer afraid to turn around and snark right back at them. COME AT ME BRO, I AM HAPPY WITH WHO I AM. Any self-improvement is done because I’m self-aware about my shortcomings, not because of what people think I should be.
57. Wear a long, twirly dress, and twirl and twirl and twirl.
*58. Go zorbing. Preferably in New Zealand. 29 October, 2010, Taylor’s University. (During the Commfest, they had a zorbing place. It was a very quick run, but fun. Definitely want to do the whole down-a-hill thing some time.)

60. Visit (and shop the heck out of) the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Florida.
61. Publish a book/novel.
62. Execute an excellent toe loop jump. (Ice-Skating)
63. Own 1000 books.
*64. Perform a flying trapeze stunt - April 2011. (Club Med Cherating. I didn’t actually execute the move properly at all, but I had a go at it. It was fun and an interesting experience, but to be honest, unless I get a Firebolt to zoom around, I prefer ground athletics.)
65. Qualify for Mensa membership
66. Fold a T-Shirt using this NINJA method.
*67. Walk on a frozen lake - February 2011, somewhere near Lublin, Poland. My buddy, Piotr took me and Maryna near his hometown an hour drive’s from the city, where we visited an abandon castle, took a hike into the woods where it opened to a huge frozen lake. We danced and had fun, and also observed a man sitting there patiently ice-fishing. Way awesome.
